Christmas Shopping Cartoon

The point of this cartoon is that people think Christmas is all about shopping, but they forget all about the true meaning of Christmas (yes you know what's coming) Jesus and His birth. The modern day world thinks about the new high tech this and all the gifts they must buy for all their friends and family. People just don't understand when to stop buying and when to start celebrating Jesus birth. I agree with the is cartoon, because it gives a clear point and it can relate to anyone who sees it. I think having that part from the grinch in the store at that point makes people, other than the lady, think about why everyone does shop. The lady could represent people who don't have a reason to really shop and why people feel the need to shop just because they want to shop. Maybe some people shop just, because there is a sale going on and that person maybe thinking that it will never happen again, so they buy that sale item. So give up the shopping and let's enjoy the day for the right reason, and i won't say it again cause you get the point.

Sean Taylor's Death

This column is about the horrific death of Sean Taylor, by the "black kkk". Whitlock talks about how hip hop music and all the death we see today is the reason why the "klan" was brought back to the U.S.
I agree and disagree with this column, because I think it depends on what kind of person you really are and if you are really have that much hatred or anger toward someone that could make you want to hurt and kill others. Also hip hop could have a partial reason to do with this and the many other deaths that have occured, but I think that the way Whitlock talked about hip hop music was basically that whoever listens to hip hop will become a bad person, and will go out and kill someone.
"The "keepin' it real" mantra of hip hop is in direct defiance to evolution". This strenghthens the article, because it shows Whitlock's strong opinion and also how much hip hop ccn effect the people who take it seriously. It also show how much people don't care about others and life, because a song can talk about killing someone, and then they go and do it.

Teen Dancing

The column was about teens and the way they dance at school dances. They talked about the story in Texas, and the provacative moves the teenagers decide to at their homecoming. Parents were obviously not happy about that and the Journal wasn't that pleased either. One girl went home, because she was not having fun at her homecoming, even though she spent 400 dollars on her dress just to end up leaving.
I agree with this article because teenagers may just want to have a little fun, but it doesn't mean they have to do dirty things to have fun. If teens feel the need to express themselves in that way don't do it at the school, just do it somewhere else. The author's point of the column is to make parents and teens aware of the bad that can come out of dances (especially certain types of dances). "Because the 'sexiest child' is yet another competition for parents to engage in?". That rhetorical question makes the author's point, because parents always want the good kids, and parents reading this will think the dances really are a bad thing, because of bad kids that are there. It will make them be more protective of their children when it comes to dancing in the dark.
